Is this Nefertiti – or a 100-year-old fake?

the main article by Kate Connolly in Berlin..

Berlin author and historian Edrogan Ercivan has added his weight to the row with his book Missing Link in Archaeology, published last week, in which he has also called Nefertiti a fake, modelled by an artist on Borchardt's statuesque wife.He kept it in his living room for the next 11 years before handing it over to a Berlin museum, since when it has been one of the city's main tourist attractions.Other aspects of the find, which he has claimed support his theory, are the facts that the bust has no left eye,

which the ancient Egyptians would have considered a sign of disrespect towards their much-loved queen, and that the first scientific reports on the discovery were not written up for 11 years. But Stierlin has argued that while it is possible to carbon date the pigments, which appear to be ancient Egyptian, it is impossible to accurately date the bust because it is made of stone covered in plaster.According to a Swiss art historian, the bust is less than 100 years old.

Who Was Nefertiti? By Maryalice Yakutchik

How does one of the most powerful, stunningly beautiful and controversial queens of ancient Egypt virtually vanish from history?

With the help of her enemies, apparently. And if there's one thing Egyptologists agree on when it comes to Nefertiti, it's that she had plenty of enemies.

The wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten and perhaps a ruler in her own right after his , Nefertiti was little more than a historical whisper when, in 1912, an exquisite limestone sculpture of her now famous face was unearthed at the royal retreat of Amarna. It was more than 3,200 years old, dating from 1345 B.C.

But from the moment it went on display at the Egyptian Museum in Berlin in 1924, the enigmatic bust with the swan like neck assumed a place as one of the world's most famous icons.

Monotheistic Ambitions of Nefertiti

It's believed that they were indeed a very close and happy family.Throughout the Eighteenth Dynasty, women played an active and visible role in the affairs of state and religion. There's been scholarly speculation that she was a foreign woman, intended for marriage to Amunhotep the Third. However, every city had its own deity, and ordinary people had their own gods they worshipped.

I doubt that many commoners even knew their names.Nefertiti and Akhenaten come along and start to upset the religious apple cart. This would probably have made her Tadukhepa, daughter of Tushratta, King of Mitanni, but there's virtually no evidence to support this theory.Aye's favourite title was 'God's Father' and judging by that, he wasn't a man who lacked self confidence!

At least, it was found in his workshop. It is known that she had a sister, but she, too, is unknown. The union of Nefertiti and Akhenaten produced six daughters. Her parents are unknown, fairly obviously, or we'd know precisely her nationality.Tey, therefore, was no menial servant, but enjoyed a very elevated position. It's a divine piece of work, showing what a deep understanding the Egyptians had of the human face.We only see discrimination and persecution in monotheistic religions. In any case, considering she had an Egyptian wet nurse, it's far more likely that she was, in fact, Egyptian. The most famous likeness of her was the bust, believed to be made by Thutmose.Enough said on that subject,
