Egyptian and German Officials to Meet About Nefertiti Bust

Zahi Hawass, head of Egypt’s antiquities council, said that a meeting planned in Egypt on Dec.The bust of Nefertiti, the wife of the pharaoh Akhenaten, is currently on display at the Neues Museum in Berlin; it was discovered by the German archaeologist Ludwig Borchardt in 1912, who said he had Egyptian approval to take it.Hawass also said that the Berlin museum official would make the case “that the statue left Egypt through legal channels.
